TEACHING

 

Central to Chris’ research interests are design-research and design-practice, both as the subjects and means of study. Chris’ studio teaching extends these interests. Chris has taught architectural design studios and theory courses at the University of Edinburgh since 2009, across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He is currently leader of an MArch studio entitled City Fragments: Palermo Institutions.

STUDENT AWARDS

 

2018. Rosie Milne’s project ‘A Gesture in Green: Newbattle Dance Mills’, completed on the course PARA-Sites, Parapluies-Parasols: Tectonics as Landscape, Landscape as Tectonics, was nominated for the Bronze Medal category of the RIBA Presidents Medal Awards.

 

2015. Marcus Inglis and Marshall Rothnie received a High Commendation for their thesis project ‘Chlorophyllous Urbanism’ in the Silver Medal category of the RIBA Presidents Medal Awards, completed on the programme The [Loving] Metropolitan Landscape: PARA-Situation [Mumbai] (Course Organiser: Dr Dorian Wiszniewski). The project was also awarded the Dunbar Naismith Bursary Prize and the LDN Award at the Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show, and was exhibited at the RSA New Contemporaries Exhibition in 2016.

 

2014. Louisa Butler and Jamie Kinghorn’s thesis project ‘Filo Fragment Fictions’, completed on the course The [Loving] Metropolitan Landscape: PARA-Situation [Olbia] (Course Organiser: Dr Dorian Wiszniewski), was exhibited at the RSA New Contemporaries Exhibition in 2014

 

2013. Ryan Hodge and Douglas Wright were awarded the Architecture + Design Scotland Urban Design Award for their project ‘Blue Lunacy: Salt Lines and the Olbian Lamprey’, completed on the course The [Loving] Metropolitan Landscape: PARA-Situation [Olbia] (Course Organiser: Dr Dorian Wiszniewski).
